LISBON — A Tallmadge teen sentenced to 10 to 15 years in prison for two counts of rape filed an appeal Thursday to challenge the Columbiana County Common Pleas Court decision.

Zackary Daniel Scott, 19, pleaded guilty to the first-degree felony lesser included rape offenses in April for engaging in sexual conduct with a 12-year-old girl between Aug. 14-16, 2021 in Hanover Township.

At the time of the offenses, Scott was 18 years old, but told investigators on the scene that he was 16 years old and starting his junior year in high school. They later learned his actual age. The parents of the girl called the sheriff’s office when they found Scott in their daughter’s bedroom.

The appeal was filed in the Seventh District Court of Appeals.

In Common Pleas Court, Jordan Myers, 27, Alliance, pleaded guilty to tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony, and aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony. He was sentenced immediately to 18 months in prison, with credit for 169 days already served in jail. Charges of obstructing official business and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia were dismissed.

The charges all related to a traffic stop March 8 in Columbiana when Myers identified himself with someone else’s name and information and later admitted to lying about who he was.
